Global Education Program

Mission
  • To promote cross-cultural education.
  • To foster tolerance and understanding towards diversity.
  • To aid appreciation of the globalization process.
Program Description

The program works with the aid of international students attending the university, who volunteer to become speakers and presenters. There are two types of activities. The first one consists of informal presentations where the students share basic information regarding their countries, their cultures, their experiences, and their views on current events and issues from around the world.

The second type of activity consists of formal presentations of topics chosen at the discretion of the requesting party.

The world is a diverse place, and the OIA believes that if we are aware and understand each other's differences and more importantly our similarities, and accentuate them, we will make it a better place.

Student Volunteers

As a GEP volunteer, you will have the opportunity to expose your culture/country to other Americans. It is also gratifying to participate outside-of-class and to network with others from community.

For more information, contact the OIA at (337) 482-6819 or oia@louisiana.edu.
