Orientation
New F-1 and J-1 international students are required to attend two orientation sessions. The first session, International Orientation, is offered virtually by the Office of International Affairs and can be accessed through Moodle. If you don't see 'International Orientation' once you log into Moodle, please email oia@louisiana.edu with your name and ULID for access.
It includes important information about campus services, immigration requirements, and SEVP (Student Exchange Visitor Program) rules and regulations. This virtual orientation can be completed at your convenience once you have been admitted. You will view videos, download information, and answer quizzes to ensure that you understand your rights and responsibilties as an international student. You will also upload documents (passport, visa, and the forms listed below) so that the OIA can register your I-20 or DS-2019 in SEVIS (Student Exchange Visitor Information System), which is a federal requirement for all F-1 and J-1 students and scholars.
The second orientation is hosted by the Orientation Office (Undergraduates) OR the Graduate School and is where you will actually register for your classes, learn about procedures for on-campus employment if you have an assistantship, and meet with academic advisors. These offices will provide registration information to you via email.
Math Placement Exams for International Students
First-time freshmen (undergraduates) who do not have SAT or ACT scores are required to take the mathematics portion of the ACT Residual, which is offered by Counseling and Testing or the Accuplacer exam.
Some international students may choose to take the Math Department's placement exam to attempt to gain entry to advanced math courses. For information on the Math Department's International Placement Exam and to request to take the exam, please click here.
